Higher Education Funding Summit
NUS launched a comprehensive report that critiqued what is wrong with the way that higher education is currently funded in England. The report looked at how the system affects students, the sector and the public. It will clearly lays out how the system fails students, divides the higher education sector, gives poor value to the public and weakens the learning process.
The event was also be an opportunity to explore the problems of the current funding system with other stakeholders. It also served to formally start our consultation on what an alternative funding model will look like. Both officers and staff attended the event and contribute to the discussions.
Speakers included: Pam Tatlow, Million+; Gavin Hayes, Compass; Alastair Hunter, UCU and Caroline Smith, TUC.
