Campaigns

Low pay submission

NUS are seeking case studies to inform our submission to the Low Pay Commission. Can you help? If you’ve been affected by the minimum wage let us know how by emailing mark.leach@nus.org.uk by Friday 28th September. It is vital that we have your experiences to make our case for an equal minimum wage for all.

Demonstrate how NUS is more than a discount card by introducing people to the wide variety of work that NUS does.

We launched a number of publications at the event including, Three Year Education Funding Strategy, An Economic Analysis of Free Education and The Great Higher Education Funding Debate Report. They are available to view online.

Forthcoming changes to the student provisions

Meetings

  • NUS attended the Liberal Democrats Party Conference and hosted a fringe event.
  • NUS met with the TUC to discuss amongst other things the national minimum wage
  • NUS met with BYC.
  • NUS have met with HSBC.
  • NUS met with the Electoral Commission to discuss voter registration.
  • NUS will be at the Labour Party Conference and will be co-hosting a fringe event.

    National Identity Fraud Prevention Week

    NUS is looking for students who have been victims of identity fraud to take part in various media activities. If you, or anyone you know, has ever been a victim, please get in touch and help us to help other students escape a similar fate! Email sarah.wayman@nus.org.uk before Friday 28th September. Thank you!

    FE Campaigns Day

    Learn more about the campaign priorities of NUS and how to run successful campaigns in your colleges.This event is open to ALL students and student officers. 26th October London.

    This zone have published information on their ongoing programmes of work.

    Strong and Active

    Podium

    "The Further and Higher Education Unit for the 2012 Games" is seeking members for its Student Action Group that will meet three to four times over the next year. If you would like to be a member of the Action Group please click here for further information or email gareth@podium.ac.uk.

    Women and LGBT

    Reclaim the night

    The London Feminist Network have organised a march in London, Saturday 24 November to call for an end to violence against all women. NUS's presence was really strong last year to find out more about the event

    Activists Academy

    The dates have been set for this year’s Activists Academy. Following on from February’s pilot scheme we will be putting on two events this year on in the North and the other in the South. Keep checking the website for more details.
