| The report, commissioned by Universities UK (UUK), the group representing vice-chancellors, said some institutions have launched schemes to reward students who do not drop out, or those who choose to study unpopular subjects like languages and science. Other universities were targeting students from poorer backgrounds who had excellent A-level results. The study examined the initial impact of £3,000 a year top-up tuition fees, which were introduced in September last year. Full article and report.
