| Stop and think before raising fees |

| There seems to be a growing consensus that expenditure on higher education has to be increased; that the public contribution cannot or will not grow; and that the only way forward is for the private contribution to be raised, not only through higher fees but, possibly, also through a less generous maintenance regime. But is this desirable, or feasible? Read the full article.
